We believe veterinary care should be transparent and easy to understand. Before every treatment, we’ll explain your options, discuss the expected costs and answer any questions you may have.
Every invoice clearly shows:
- Veterinary services provided
- Medications and consumables used
- Laboratory tests (where applicable)
- VAT and all applicable charges
If your pet’s treatment plan changes, we’ll discuss any additional recommendations and costs with you before moving forward whenever possible.
Please note: Sometimes new findings mean additional tests or treatments are needed. Whenever possible, we’ll discuss these recommendations and any associated costs with you in advance, so you can make an informed decision for your pet.

How veterinary fees are calculated
In Germany, veterinary fees are regulated by the Gebührenordnung für Tierärztinnen und Tierärzte (GOT). Sie legt bundesweit feste Preisspannen für jede Leistung fest – vom einfachen bis zum vierfachen Satz. Der einfache Satz ist das bundesweite Minimum, der drei- und der vierfache Satz gelten vor allem für Nacht- und Wochenenddienste. Bei fellow kalkulieren wir unsere Preise so, dass sie den tatsächlichen Aufwand widerspiegeln und für Dich fair bleiben.

That’s why we operate as a cashless clinic and accept all major debit and credit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. This makes every visit quicker, more secure for our team, and allows us to focus on what matters most—providing the best possible care for your pet.
Pet insurance explained
Pet insurance can help protect you from unexpected veterinary costs if your dog or cat becomes ill or is injured. Depending on your policy, part or even all of your treatment costs may be covered. Premiums typically depend on factors such as your pet’s age, breed and the level of cover you choose.
It’s important to know that most insurers only provide cover if your pet is enrolled before health problems arise. That’s why it’s often worth choosing the right insurance early.
Surgery Insurance
Surgery insurance helps cover the cost of unexpected operations and related treatment if your pet requires surgery. Depending on your policy, this may include pre-operative diagnostics, medication, hospitalisation and follow-up care. It gives you peace of mind that your pet can receive the best possible treatment when it’s needed most.
Pet Health Insurance
Pet health insurance provides comprehensive cover for your pet. In addition to surgery, it typically covers diagnostics, treatments and many medications. Depending on your policy, preventive care such as vaccinations and routine health checks may also be included, helping to detect and treat health problems at an early stage.
Third-Party Liability Insurance
Pet owner liability insurance is worth considering for every dog owner and, in some cases, cat owners as well. It covers the cost of damage or injury caused by your pet to other people, animals or property. Standard personal liability insurance in Germany generally does not cover these situations. In some German states, dog owner liability insurance is even a legal requirement.
Our recommendation
We recommend taking out pet insurance as early as possible—ideally while your dog or cat is still young and healthy. Premiums are often lower, and you’ll usually have access to the widest range of cover before any health conditions develop.
